Your Learning Environment

At IWU, we make sure success starts with you. IWU's BSN program teaches you the practical skills you need for a career or graduate study, and unlike traditional nursing degree programs, you have complete control over your interactions with instructors and fellow students.

Online learning is the great equalizer in nursing degree programs. At IWU, you are on an equal footing with your fellow students. You are no longer lost in a crowded lecture hall or at the mercy of other students monopolizing class time. The virtual classroom is the key to the success of online nursing degree programs such as IWU. It must accomplish two important tasks:

Teach using multiple learning opportunities. At IWU, you learn by viewing interactive instructional content, collaborating with students in workshops and projects, participating in discussion forums, and receiving a careful evaluation of your performance.

The Teaching Process

Earning your Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing online requires a commitment to excellence. The more effort you put into the program, the more you gain.

You take the program as part of a cohort group of 15 to 18 students. Your classmates may come from all over the country and work at nearly every different type of nursing position. Such diversity means you can tap into their experience as you learn, benefiting from their ideas and creating a valuable peer network that will last long after you graduate.

Expect to devote about 15 to 18 hours to the program each week. You will work with course content in a user-friendly workspace. There are no lines at the bookstore or library waiting lists. Instructors place their expectations and procedures for evaluating grades in writing in this area. All students have access to this information equally.
Instructors use discussion boards to organize talks. Your fellow students will also participate in discussions concerning topics important to them. The more you use this feature, the better you will come to know your classmates. Many of them are fellow professionals whose experience and knowledge are sure to infuse excitement into your work and motivate you during the challenging moments.
You interact with your professor directly. Your teacher will know you by name and your writing style. As such, your academic performance is evaluated by someone who knows how hard you work and who understands the challenges you face.
