IWU BSN Admission Requirements


In order for IWU to consider you for enrollment into the online Bachelor of Science in Nursing, you must complete the following four steps:


Applicants must:

  1. Be a registered nurse with proof of an unencumbered current RN license.
  2. Hold an Associate Degree in nursing or a diploma from a state board of nursing accredited hospital school of nursing. (Students must have at least 60 transferable credit hours from an regionally accredited college or university.)
  3. Have an overall GPA of at least 2.0 from all previous college work. IWU nursing school online must receive original, official transcripts directly from all the colleges and universities attended.
  4. Have one year of full-time work experience as a licensed RN or LPN. Although applicants must hold a current RN license to be admitted to the program, work experience gained as an LPN may be counted toward the one year of full-time work experience required for admission.
If you have a diploma from a State Board of Nursing accredited hospital school of nursing, you may be eligible to apply IWU nursing school online for credit through the diploma evaluation process. Credit hours awarded may be counted toward the 60 required for admission to the core, up to a maximum of 40 credits.


Progression through the IWU BSN Online Core Program


IWU requires you maintain a consistent level of academic proficiency as you progress through the BSN curriculum. In order to successfully complete the program:
  1. You must complete each individual core course with a grade of C or better.
  2. You must achieve a GPA of 2.75 or higher by the end of the third course. If you do not attain a 2.75 GPA, you will be placed on academic probation.
  3. If your overall GPA falls below 2.75 anytime after the third course, you will be placed on academic probation for the next three courses.
  4. You must complete all requirements for health clearance before entering practicum courses.
  5. You must be licensed in the state in which you are practicing practicum courses.
